What leaves your phone
Nothing you play. Videos are read from the device to list and play them, and are never uploaded. Playdabba does not fetch, suggest or catalogue anything: there is no downloader, no search, no recommendations and no built-in browser.
Nothing in the vault. It holds only what you put in it, encrypted on the device, and it is never backed up or synced anywhere.
No account. There is nothing to sign in to, so there is nothing to reset, recover or leak.
No extra permissions. It does not ask for all-files access, your location, your camera, your microphone, your contacts, or the list of apps installed on your phone.
What it does collect, for ads and crash reports, fits on one page: the privacy policy.
The vault
Move a video or a photo into the vault and it leaves the gallery, leaves your backups, and is encrypted on the device with a key held in the phone's hardware keystore. Opening it takes your PIN or your fingerprint.
A forgotten PIN cannot be recovered, by you or by anyone else. That is what makes the vault worth having.
And a proper player
Plays almost anything
MKV, AVI, MOV, FLV, TS and the codecs most phones refuse: AC3, DTS, HEVC. Hardware decoding wherever the device supports it.
Remembers where you were
Resume, playback speed, subtitle timing, and a folder view that matches how the files actually sit on disk.
Stays out of the way
Background audio, picture-in-picture, a proper notification control, and gesture seek and brightness where you expect them.
Opens from anywhere
Set it as the default and a video tapped in any other app opens in the same player, with the same controls.
Paying for it
Playdabba is free and shows ads. An optional subscription removes every one of them. It unlocks no content, because there is no content to unlock.
